Job Summary:

As a Medical Records Technician at TUCSON MEDICAL CENTER, you will play a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and quality of electronic medical records. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will ensure that records are completed in a timely manner, meeting the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze medical records for quantitative deficiencies and forward completed records for processing
Review records for qualitative and/or other deficiencies and assign deficient records to appropriate providers for completion
Ensure adherence to institutional policies and procedures for maintenance of medical records
Contact physicians and patients to obtain information required to complete certificates and other documents
Follow up on uncoded records to meet established deadlines
Prepare and/or type various lists, records, and reports, statistical material, and correspondence
Assist in training new personnel in analyzing records, policies, and procedures

Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Two (2) years of HIM record system evaluation experience, preferably in an acute care setting
Knowledge of medical records review needs, medical terminology, and coding
Skill in the review of medical records to ensure quality of coding and record management
Ability to train others in the proper use and application of computer programs
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
