Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Lead to join our team at Hour Consulting. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our data pipelines and models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify data needs of engineering, product, and business teams and build efficient data pipelines to enable data-informed decisions
  • Architect data pipelines and models that power internal analytics and customer-facing data visualization product features
  • Drive the collection of new data and evolution of existing data sources, collaborating with engineering teams to manage product instrumentation strategies and data structures
  • Help product and engineering teams understand and generalize statistical models from research efforts and build data systems to use these models directly in the product
  • Work with Product Management to ensure productive sprints that deliver maximum value to customers
  • Help continuously improve team processes of the engineering team

Requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Science role, with a focus on instrumenting data collection, building data pipelines, and conducting data-intensive analysis
  • Strong engineering background and interest in data
  • Care deeply about data integrity, have a good nose for inconsistencies in data, and be able to pinpoint issues to ensure accurate and complete data
  • Extensive experience with scientific computing languages (e.g. Python) and SQL
  • Experience building Amazon Web Services-based systems that process data across multiple data stores and technologies, including MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch
  • Knowledge of best practices for visualizing different types of data in different contexts
  • Comfortable using multiple communication and collaboration tools to work effectively with colleagues across North America and Europe
