Position Overview

The State of Illinois is in search of a meticulous, professional, and results-driven individual to take on the role of Senior Regional Counsel. This position entails representing the agency in legal proceedings and providing expert legal guidance to staff across various divisions. The role also includes representation in civil and administrative hearings, making it an excellent opportunity for legal professionals eager to contribute to child welfare initiatives. Key Responsibilities

1. Act as Senior Regional Counsel for the agency.

2. Offer legal advice and support to staff across different divisions.

3. Represent the agency in administrative hearings.

4. Stay informed on new legislation, agency policies, and relevant laws.

5. Provide legal training to agency personnel on various subjects, including court testimony.

6. Undertake additional duties as assigned that align with the responsibilities outlined above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must hold a valid license to practice law in Illinois.

2. A minimum of three years of experience as an attorney in court and/or administrative hearings.

3. Experience in child welfare or juvenile law is required.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Comprehensive knowledge of Illinois laws impacting juvenile court proceedings and administrative hearings.

2. Experience in legal writing, including motions, pleadings, briefs, and memoranda.

3. Professional experience in a liaison role with various internal and external stakeholders.

Conditions of Employment

1. Must be able to pass a background check.

2. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel are required.
