We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation and Capacity Engineer II to join our team at Spectrum. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for executing project plans for engineering management resources, as well as bandwidth transport and capacity management of network needs and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project plans for effective networking management to ensure projects are controlled and completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate solutions for highly complex circuit orders and capacity requirements for the divisions and internal corporate customers.
- Interact with network engineers and engineering staff to develop required plans for effective networking management.
- Design and implement plans for interconnects with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and other carriers.
- Provide project management and network planning support in close coordination with access providers.
- Develop and maintain processes and procedures associated with Transport and Circuit management functions.
- Develop and produce reports clearly indicating benchmarks, critical paths, resource loads, schedule slack, and required plan adjustments.
- Identify project slips and provide suggested corrective courses to recover schedule slippage.
- Coordinate bandwidth-needs and forecasting for all aspects of networking.
- Provide project and vendor coordination of access providers.
- Provide billing coordination, verification, and support to network key holders and corporate accounting.
- Provide contract negotiation and project management support to the Corporate Contracts Manager.
- Review and submit reports and other data as required by leadership and conduct a continuing evaluation of task force results.
- Ensure compliance with established processes, procedures, and policies.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant transport experience in Telecommunications or a related industry.
- Minimum of two (2) years of program development and project planning experience.
- In-depth knowledge of circuit ordering for bandwidth requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of SONET ring functionality, testing, and activation.
- In-depth knowledge of IP transport and routing protocols, testing, and activation.
- Ability to work well with all levels of organization, varied disciplines, and degrees of technical business experience and external access providers.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and trend data projecting future connectivity needs based upon growth projections.
- Ability to analyze connectivity requirements using the Local Exchange Routing Guide (LERG) or other tool sets.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects to meet target dates for implementation.
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
- Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties and goals.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
