Position Summary: AIMS LOCUM TENENS LLC is in search of experienced Pharmacy Technicians to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical services. The ideal candidates will undertake a range of responsibilities in outpatient, inpatient, and oncology pharmacy environments, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient reactions to medication therapies and develop drug therapy plans based on physician-determined diagnoses.
  • Process and verify prescriptions, including controlled substances, in accordance with the pharmacy formulary.
  • Monitor patient responses to both prescription and over-the-counter medications, adhering to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any issues related to dosing, interactions, or instructions.
  • Manage inventory by preparing replenishment orders, receiving stock, checking for discrepancies, and ensuring proper rotation of medications.
  • Input medication orders into an electronic health record system, checking for allergies, interactions, and duplicate entries.
  • Conduct standard quality assessments on finished products, confirming ingredient accuracy, labeling, and ensuring a high-quality product is dispensed.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including PYXIS machines and point-of-use medication cabinets.

Specific Duties for Outpatient Pharmacy Technicians:

  • Input prescriptions into the outpatient pharmacy system, ensuring thorough review for allergies, interactions, and duplicates.
  • Prepare medication labels, inspect products for accuracy, and set aside prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist.
  • Provide patients with guidance on proper medication usage, directing inquiries to a pharmacist as necessary.
  • Assist in the inspection of medication storage areas and uphold the security of pharmaceutical products.
  • Support the ordering and assessment of laboratory tests to evaluate the effects of drug therapies.

Qualifications:

  • At least one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years as a pharmacy technician in inpatient, outpatient, or oncology settings.
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a comparable program, including military training.
  • Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), or CHPhT.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Adherence to relevant state regulations governing the profession.

  • Demonstrated stability and continuity in the workforce to ensure consistent task performance.
