Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess over 10 years of experience in Site Engineering and Land Development.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Maintain a valid New Jersey PE License.

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Site Engineering and Land Development.

  • A minimum of ten years of proven success as a Land Development Engineer is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for managing projects, engaging with clients, and liaising with regulatory bodies.
  • Experience as an expert witness before municipal Boards to facilitate project approvals is essential.
  • A strong business acumen with a history of cross-selling multi-discipline services is expected.
  • Encouragement of a business culture aligned with the values of the Board of Directors is crucial.
  • A high awareness of Risk Management practices with a successful track record in mitigating claims and disputes is required.

Business Development:

  • Foster strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for project extensions and new initiatives.
  • Recognize leads within existing clients to promote services from other departments.
  • Seek new client leads and coordinate follow-up with the Department Manager.
  • Participate in relevant trade shows to connect with prospective and current clients.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of competitors and inform key executives of significant changes.
  • Assist in client presentations as needed.

Proposal Management:

  • Support the Department Manager in assessing projects for pursuit based on the GO/NO GO Matrix.
  • Contribute to strategies for RFQs, including time budgeting for proposal preparation.
  • Prepare proposals as directed by the Department Manager, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Recommend qualified sub-consultants for proposal sections.
  • Identify client representatives involved in decision-making and follow up to secure projects.
  • Review and analyze unsuccessful proposals with the Department Manager.
  • Educate clients on contract issues, including unfavorable terms that may arise.

Operations:

  • Review contracts or proposals signed by clients prior to project initiation.
  • Establish a comprehensive project work plan before commencement.
  • Implement a project-specific QA/QC process in line with FPA standards.
  • Set project budgets and schedules, coordinating staffing needs accordingly.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities to assigned staff, detailing phases, tasks, budgets, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with corporate support services to draft sub-consultant contracts.
  • Maintain regular communication with client Project Managers regarding project progress.
  • Promptly submit requests for change orders as necessary.
  • Regularly assess the quality of work and productivity of assigned personnel.
  • Recommend corrective actions to Billing Group Managers or Department Managers when needed.
  • Engage in departmental or corporate activities aimed at enhancing operational success.

Project Administration:

  • Monitor job cost data weekly and take immediate corrective actions if required.
  • Initiate billing processes on a schedule that aligns with client expectations.
  • Ensure timely collection of client receivables based on established goals.
  • Maintain project files in accordance with FPA Document Retention Policy.
  • Propose changes to policies and procedures as necessary.
