Job Responsibilities:
  • Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including fluid replacements and lubrication, to ensure optimal vehicle functionality and longevity.
  • Recommend future maintenance requirements and advise clients on proper vehicle usage to maximize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Repair or replace broken, damaged, or missing parts, and resolve issues such as leaks, to maintain vehicle integrity.
  • Provide accurate estimates for repairs or maintenance jobs, including cost, time, and effort required.
  • Keep detailed records of work performed, including warranty concerns, and maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
  • Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure mechanical soundness and identify any potential issues.
  • Diagnose problems based on driver descriptions and vehicle performance data.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in automotive technology to ensure continuous innovation and efficiency.
  • Comply with state vehicle regulations by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety practices in all tasks and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding vehicle problems, diagnostic tests, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with other repair team members to ensure timely completion of services.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an automotive technician or mechanic is essential.
  • ASE certification (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) is highly desirable.
  • You should be proficient in using various hand tools, precision measurement tools, and shop equipment.
  • A working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods is necessary.
  • You must be able to handle heavy tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • You should have excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • You should possess strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are critical.
  • Basic computer and reporting skills are necessary.
  • A commitment to ongoing education and training is expected.
