Job Description:
The Machinist II role performs complex support tasks with minimal supervision by applying extensive knowledge in a specialized function. This position requires defining methods and procedures on new assignments and recognizing subject matter expertise in an area of specialized expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and execute machining operations to manufacture parts with close tolerances and critical finishes in ID, OD, and spherical radii.
- Operate CNC-based and conventional machinery, lathes, mills, and grinding machines.
- Monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are required and adjust as necessary. May include CNC conversational programming and entering offsets.
- Verify, inspect, and measure parts to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
- Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning machines and work areas.
Requirements:
- Machinist Certification preferred or 6 years of related experience.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, etc. Ability to work with tolerances less than 0.0005.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of geometric tolerance symbols. Solid ability to read and follow instructions including Engineering and CAD drawings. Complex math required, i.e., Trigonometry.
