CHRISTUS Health is seeking a skilled Critical Care Technician to join our team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As a Critical Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide competent care to patients in the ICU, including vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and wound care.
- React quickly and effectively to critical and emergency situations, utilizing BLS and first aid training.
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Organize care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Perform other job duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus trade or vocational school training in medical/surgical patient care.
- Current BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association.
- Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients or equipment as per policy and procedure.
- Experience working in an ICU or critical care setting.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Experience with electronic medical records and documentation.
The ICU is a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with exposure to x-rays and infectious diseases such as hepatitis-B and AIDS. The work is physically strenuous and can be stressful, sometimes involving life-or-death situations and suffering patients.
