Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual for the role of Associate Producer in our Washington D.C Bureau. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial and logistical skills, along with a keen understanding of how to gather news and set up interviews.

About the Role

  • Finding key elements that drive stories forward, logging/transcribing events, and tracking news developments.
  • Being well-read and up-to-date on Washington-based and political stories, ensuring timely identification of breaking developments.
  • Assisting reporters in setting up studio and Zoom interviews, asking critical questions, and gathering information needed to craft impactful live shots.
  • Maintaining vigilance on wires, social media, and other broadcast networks to identify and flag breaking news as it happens.
  • Collaborating closely with our D.C. and New York-based shows to ensure Fox provides compelling live shots that captivate viewers.
  • Developing and pitching ideas for D.C. bureau coverage that inform, educate, and inspire Fox's audience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of television news experience.
  • Experience producing reporter live shots.
  • Strong logistical and editorial skills.
  • Knowledge of national and international news.
  • Familiarity with various government agencies in Washington D.C.
  • A self-starter who can work independently, as well as a team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize daily tasks, especially in breaking news situations.

Benefits

  • Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the estimated annual salary range for this position is: $61,000 - $70,000, dependent on education, skills, experience, and location.
  • This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits.
