Position Overview

We are seeking a proficient Geologist for Exploration and Production Operations to enhance our team of geoscientists. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive background in generating innovative prospects, assessing drilling and mineral opportunities, and geologically mapping and prioritizing primary drilling targets. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at identifying potential new targets within a basin and collaborating effectively with geoscience, land, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct geological mapping and evaluation of extensive project areas.
  • Identify and assess proven targets while discovering potential new targets within a basin.
  • Develop new drilling prospects and assist in managing existing projects.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to evaluate, plan, and execute drilling projects.
  • Present and communicate prospects effectively to management for approval.
  • Oversee daily geo-steering tasks in large-scale horizontal drilling operations.
  • Maintain communication with mud loggers, directional drillers, and operations staff to ensure target integrity.
  • Integrate various data sources, including MWD logs and mud logs, into decision-making processes.
  • Analyze drilling outcomes and provide recommendations for future project planning.
  • Learn from results to enhance overall project effectiveness.
Required Skills

  • Solid foundation in interpreting petrophysical logs and formation evaluation logs.

  • Proficient in geoscience software and basic office applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Sciences from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree in Geology or Geological Sciences is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in operations and prospect generation.
  • Experience in the Permian Basin (Delaware and/or Midland) is essential.
