We are in search of a dedicated Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst to collaborate closely with the Specialized Technical and Administrative Support Services within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (OUSD (I&S)). Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of the United States Code: 5 USC §552, which grants public access to records through the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Exhibit reliability in meeting stringent deadlines and schedules, utilizing all available resources to achieve desired outcomes, while maintaining a strong commitment to completing all assigned tasks.
  • Prepare Information and Action Packages for Senior Leadership review, adhering to specific templates and guidelines provided by the team lead, and making recommendations regarding the applicability of the nine exemptions under 5 USC §552.
  • Assess whether the release of government information could compromise U.S. national security, in accordance with 5 USC §552.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with national security professionals.
  • Review and process all I&S FOIA requests, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure thorough and timely responses.
  • Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively coordinate FOIA responses with stakeholders across OUSD(I&S) and the broader Federal government.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain or currently possess a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance.
  • Subject to drug testing.
  • Experience with FOIA requests, including government responses, with a minimum of three (3) years working on FOIA requests for a U.S. government agency.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in handling large datasets and highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and utilizing advanced web tools for research.
