About the Role:

St. Luke's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Surgical Technician to join our team. As a key member of the surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for surgical procedures by confirming supplies, equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Prepare sterile tables with efficiency and accuracy, ensuring instruments are in safe working condition.
  • Follow OR safety practices to maintain a safe environment for patients and support safe patient outcomes, including surgical counts.
  • Participate in surgical team duties from turnover between cases to daily operational assignments.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team from draping to closure, demonstrating knowledge of procedures.
  • Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique and be attentive to members of the team.
  • Handle surgical specimens in a safe and appropriate manner, following handling policies.
  • Follow appropriate processes for handling surgical instruments, drills, and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with RNs and members of the surgical team to meet the highest level of compliance in quality metrics and successful patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ethical care, patient rights, and support a culture of safety through verbalization of safety concerns.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate with a certified Surgical Technologist program and passed a Surgical Technologist Certification Exam.
  • Ability to sit for up to 1 hour, stand for up to 8 hours, and walk for up to 8-10 hours per day.
  • Manual dexterity for handling and twisting/turning, with the ability to lift and carry objects up to 10 lbs and frequently lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to move and respond quickly, with good hearing and vision, including peripheral vision and depth perception.
