Job Title: Associate Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Civil Engineer to join our Water Supply Engineering Section at the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and tracking water supply projections, preparing presentations and memoranda to management and the public on the status of the water supply, and communicating with resource agencies and stakeholders on the planned operation and conformance with regulations, rights, and agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and track water supply projections to inform system operation, reservoir routing, and water transfer decisions.
  • Prepare presentations and memoranda to management and the public on the status of the water supply and planned raw water operations.
  • Communicate with resource agencies and stakeholders on the planned operation and conformance with regulations, rights, and agreements.
  • Perform a variety of engineering analyses in areas such as hydraulics, hydrology, and statistics related to the planning, design, and operation of water supply facilities.
  • Analyze weather and runoff projections to plan and assess forecast-informed reservoir operations.
  • Make projections of water consumption and other growth factors by analyzing water use, land use, population, and related data.
  • Interface with internal work groups to coordinate raw water operation with consideration for various concerns.
  • Review proposed water rights, water agreements, legal decisions, regulations, and legislation regarding the Mokelumne River and EBMUD water supply and conveyance facilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited civil or geotechnical engineering curriculum or a California EIT Certificate.
  • Four years of professional civil, geotechnical, and/or sanitary engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), which is equivalent to two years of experience at EBMUD's Assistant Engineer level.
  • California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
