Radiology Support Specialist
Full-Time (Wednesday-Saturday 8a-7p)

Starting at $19.00/hour

Under the guidance of a Radiology Manager, the Radiology Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting technologists with both technical and patient care responsibilities. This position is essential in maintaining an organized environment, ensuring that exam rooms are well-stocked and ready for patient visits. The specialist aids patients during examination procedures as necessary and performs reception and clerical tasks as required. This role is vital in providing support services to patients and their families throughout the healthcare continuum, functioning effectively as a member of the healthcare team and contributing to the smooth operation of the patient care unit while ensuring quality clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage reception and telecommunication duties for the department, including answering phones, greeting visitors and patients, and addressing inquiries by following established protocols.
  • Assist in rescheduling appointments as needed and communicate necessary preparation information to patients.
  • Serve as a resource for patients regarding their examinations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
  • Perform various office tasks and errands accurately and promptly, such as handling interdepartmental correspondence, sorting mail, photocopying, and managing supplies.
  • Utilize computer systems for inputting and accessing patient information, lab results, and appointment schedules, and relay findings to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Ensure the accuracy of medical records by delivering screening and contrast history forms to Medical Records for input into the hospital's electronic medical record system.
  • Transport specimens with the required laboratory documentation when requested.

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; additional training in Medical Terminology is preferred.

Certifications:
  • Healthcare Provider BLS certification is mandatory.

Experience:
  • Prior experience in a clinical environment is preferred.
