Job Summary

We are seeking a Part Time Crossing Guard to assist students of Wylie ISD in safely crossing roadways and intersections. The selected candidate will be responsible for safeguarding and regulating pedestrian traffic, while also providing assistance to those needing directions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist children in safely crossing roadways and intersections
  • Watch for gaps in traffic and walk children across the roadway or intersection while holding a stop sign
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Stop traffic as needed to allow children to cross streets
  • Wear safety equipment at all times while working
  • Control vehicle and school bus traffic around the school zone
  • Signal to children when crossing streets is safe
  • Establish a positive relationship with children and parents
  • Attend training classes and/or meetings as requested
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience working with children preferred
  • City of Wylie Police Department Crossing Guard Orientation prior to manning an assigned crossing guard post
Work Environment

This position is primarily outdoors and requires standing for most of the time. The selected candidate will be required to wear safety equipment at all times while working.
