We are seeking a skilled Certified Coder to join our team at Catholic Health Service. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient data.

Responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly review and interpret medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding purposes.
  • Assess documentation to ensure it supports the principle diagnosis, procedure, complications, and comorbid conditions assigned codes.
  • Apply knowledge of disease processes and index medical terms/procedures to the appropriate classification system.
  • Utilize ICD-10-CM instructional notations and conventions to locate the correct code(s) for each episode of care.
  • Enter and edit patient data for assigning DRGs in the Grouper, following approved guidelines for coding and sequencing.
  • Enter and edit patient data into computerized abstracting systems for in-patients and outpatients as assigned.
  • Apply accurate CPT codes for procedural coding of ambulatory surgery patients.
  • Follow all coding guidelines, rules, and regulations when assigning codes.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CCS or CCS-P certification required
  • Minimum one year preferred experience with hospital ICD-10-CM and CPT Coding
