We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at New Franklin Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Job Responsibilities:- Supervise and guide Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Nursing Assistants to ensure seamless patient care.
- Deliver nursing treatment and personal care services to residents, including assessment, treatment, and prevention of pressure ulcers, monitoring food and liquid input/output, and providing hygiene and other essential care.
- Administer medications, including ordering, reconciliation, refill, and storage, while maintaining accurate records and reporting any adverse reactions.
- Schedule diagnostic testing as ordered and report laboratory/diagnostic test results to the physician according to facility policy.
- Document patient/resident medical and nursing records, including vital signs, weight, fluid and nutritional intake/output.
- Assess and report any adverse reactions to medications and collect samples for testing as needed.
- Provide orientation and assist new personnel in nursing care techniques, acting as a preceptor to new employees.
- Monitor IV therapy, perform prescribed treatments and procedures, and dispense medications as per order and facility policies.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans to meet the needs of patients on the unit.
- Investigate, report, and record all patient accidents.
- Operate or supervise the operation of specialized equipment assigned to the unit and provide assistance and guidance to the nursing team as required.
- Ensure infection control standards, including universal precautions, contact precautions, droplet precautions, and hand-washing protocols, are followed.
- Prevent resident elopement and injury by identifying those at risk for wandering and implementing measures to promote their safety.
- Ensure that report is given to the on-coming nurse on the conditions of the patient/resident and/or any unusual problems and action taken.
- Follow the code of conduct and ensure resident privacy and compliance with HIPAA.
- Completion of a formal education program in Nursing.
- Valid NYS RN License, CPR certification, and Limited Permit and out of state RNs will be considered.
- Basic computer/EMR software skills.
- Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, run in an emergency, and remain on their feet for long durations of time.
- Ability to bend, squat, push, pull, reach, stretch, and lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English, hear the spoken word, and demonstrate hand/eye dexterity for operating ADL and medically complex equipment.
