As an IT Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of the technology infrastructure at Nelson-Jameson, Inc. Your role will involve collaborating with the IT leadership to enhance and sustain the primary computing systems, personal computers, and networking apparatus. You will also be tasked with the installation and upkeep of hardware and software, as well as managing internet and intranet connectivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver support and enhancements for existing software applications. Identify system requirements, set priorities, and explore feasible alternatives. Oversee the efforts of team members to locate, evaluate, install, test, and maintain software systems. Manage conversions and upgrades for vendor systems.
- Administer databases for MSSQL Server 2016, including the implementation of operational automation through scripting as necessary.
- Formulate, execute, and uphold a disaster recovery strategy for IT operations.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of operating systems and application software to provide high-level support to users beyond help desk capabilities.
- Offer insights and recommendations to the IT leadership regarding system components within the department.
- Propose enhancements to computing systems, networks, and operational functions to the IT leadership as required. Ensure maintenance of all other office equipment as needed.
- Facilitate training for new employees on general login procedures, email usage, and phone system operations.
- Automate, monitor, and resolve database-related incidents and requests, reviewing service reports (e.g., database backups, maintenance, monitoring) daily to ensure prompt identification and resolution of service issues.
- Advocate for and implement IT policies, standards, and security measures to ensure effective information management and safeguard information resources.
- Provide technical support as a secondary resource to staff as needed through the help desk system.
- Deliver technical and administrative support for Windows-based domain and application servers, phone systems, SQL servers, EDI, content management, remote access, wireless access, and e-commerce, along with various application software.
- Add and manage users on the network, assigning application access, ensuring security, and maintaining configurations within established standards.
- Assist the internal web team in the administration and development of the company website as necessary.
- Stay informed about advancements in systems and their applications within the industry.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in IT operations with a solid understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Familiarity with data management techniques, including backup, recovery, and database design and administration.
Salary: $60,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
