Job Description

At Zachry Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Stress Engineer II to join our team. As a Stress Engineer II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of our clients' piping systems.

Responsibilities
  • Thermal Flexibility Analysis: Conduct thorough thermal flexibility analysis of piping systems and components to identify potential issues and recommend solutions.
  • Piping System Design: Collaborate with piping designers to optimize pipe routing and specify required pipe supports to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Stress Analysis: Perform ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3 formal stress analysis using Caesar II software and conduct informal (visual) stress analysis for large and small bore piping systems.
  • Support Equipment Specification: Specify engineered support equipment such as expansion bellows, spring cans, constant tension hangars, snubbers, and engineered piping supports.
  • Piping Load Evaluation: Prescribe and evaluate piping loads on process equipment nozzles, including ASME pressure vessels, and on engineered and standard support steel.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare formal stress evaluation reports and provide weekly reports communicating project status, issues, and needs.
  • Field Surveys: Conduct field surveys to collect required field data and assist with interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications in the field.
  • Team Collaboration: Attend client, vendor, and internal team meetings and provide effective inter-discipline, client, vendor, and construction coordination on projects.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 1-3 year experience in Mechanical Engineering with understanding of stress analysis and system flexibility.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, capable of performing detailed technical evaluations and drawing checking, strong communication skills, highly motivated, and ability to work in an interactive and open team environment.
  • Physical Demands: Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi-limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT (Registered Engineer in Training): EIT certification is preferred.
  • Field Plant Experience: Previous experience in the field is preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the petrochemical, oil/gas, chemical, and/or power industry is preferred.
  • Stress Analysis Experience: Previous experience with stress analysis or stress analysis concepts is preferred.
Work Environment

Employee will work in an office environment and possibly called upon to visit client plant facilities in the field. On client sites, there will be construction activities with noise levels varying from moderate to high.
