Position Summary:The Infrastructure Solutions Architect collaborates with the Systems Administration Manager to oversee all aspects of systems and data center management. This includes the installation, configuration, design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of production, development, and testing environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and configure new servers within a virtualized setting.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Conduct regular backups and ensure effective disaster recovery strategies.
- Implement and uphold security measures to protect systems and data.
- Engage in capacity planning for the IT infrastructure.
- Document current and new infrastructure setups, processes, configurations, and architectural diagrams.
- Work alongside DBA and Development teams to troubleshoot issues and evaluate future growth and capacity needs.
- Identify and rectify virtualization-related system challenges and performance concerns.
- Perform troubleshooting on production servers during off-hours as necessary.
- Execute hardware upgrades and replacements.
- Apply and maintain operating system security and feature updates.
- Research emerging technologies relevant to our environment.
- Interface with customers, users, and external vendors as needed.
- Carry out other related tasks as assigned.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Strong grasp of server administration principles for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Advanced knowledge of server technologies and hardware, including Windows Server, Hypervisors, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
- Experience in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Thorough knowledge of network configurations for virtual environments.
- Experience in optimizing backup solutions for virtual machine environments.
- Able to address inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory bodies.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.
- Willingness to travel occasionally with overnight stays.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and five to seven years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
