Key Responsibilities

As a teaching faculty member at Lone Star College, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Microbiology courses. Your primary focus will be on creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. You will also be expected to submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with students to discuss their progress. Additionally, you will be responsible for evaluating students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informing them of their progress in a timely manner. You will also be expected to maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a master's degree or higher in theoretical or applied biology or life sciences, or a master's degree or higher with 18 graduate credit hours in theoretical or applied biology or life science. You will also need to demonstrate leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people. Additionally, you will need to be committed to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.


Work Environment

The work environment for this role will be sedentary, with the majority of the time spent sitting comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile. The work will be performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
