Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Yard Driver to join our team at Michaels Stores. As a Yard Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers in and around the yard for loading and unloading purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Moves trailers in and out of shipping and receiving doors
  • Communicates with Clerical staff and/or Coaches/Operations Coordinators regarding moves to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Performs various yard checks/audits
  • Assists in maintaining Inbound and Outbound dock and staging areas
  • Completes individual daily loading sheets, dispatch forms, and other paperwork
  • Ensures that all required processes are performed concerning proper paperwork, seals, locking and securing trailers, etc.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to stay focused and organized in periods of varying work volume
  • Works with a pace that matches the urgency of workflow inside the DC
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Schedule flexibility to stay late or come in early in accordance with business needs for trailer moves
  • Maintain clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • CDL preferred but not required
  • Prior Yard Driving experience (or other driving experience) preferred
Work Environment

Exposure to extreme temperatures dependent on external climate outside and proximity to dock doors/exits while in the warehouse

Moderate noise level from Yard Truck, DC conveyor/sortation system and powered industrial equipment

Occasional vibration when operating the Yard Truck and if/when operating powered industrial equipment

Potential exposure to fumes and airborne particles
