Job Title: DHH Special Education Teacher

Highline Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate DHH Special Education Teacher to join our team of educators. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, providing them with the support and accommodations they need to succeed in the classroom.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for DHH students, taking into account their unique needs and learning styles.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and other support staff to ensure that DHH students receive a comprehensive education.
  • Provide instruction and support in a variety of settings, including general education classrooms, resource rooms, and self-contained classrooms.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of accommodations and modifications to ensure that DHH students have equal access to the curriculum.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in the educational process.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Washington State teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, parents, and staff.
