Principal Systems Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems USA. As a key member of our Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of complex systems and ensuring that they meet the required specifications and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Direct or support requirements development and management
* Develop and manage subsystem and component performance specifications by analyzing and deriving necessary requirements
* Develop and maintain requirements verification and compliance, and supporting artifacts
* Support requirements decomposition analysis to help drive concept architectures and system characteristics
* Direct and facilitate architecture development of assigned system, subsystems, and components
* Direct development and maintenance of interface requirements and interface design information for assigned sub-system, system and components
* Document concept design decisions and support generating System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) and capability assessments
* Coordinate and facilitate formal decisions and trade studies to drive design and document results
* Support the monitoring of cost, schedule, and risk
* Coordinate Systems Engineering activities to influence the design
* Support vehicle level Systems Engineering activities and program milestone reviews
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering and 6+ year's relevant experience
* Systems engineering experience performing requirements analysis, derivation and allocation, and translating requirements to viable concepts design solutions within applicable constraints
* Experience developing architecture concepts and evaluating alternatives
* Knowledge of how to balance system design considering system concept of operations (CONOPS), performance, constraints, and logistics concerns
* Knowledge of how to plan, conduct and document complex trade studies
* Experience generating System / Subsystem Design Descriptions and capability assessments per the program statement of work
* Excellent oral and written communication techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a Master's degree in Systems Engineering
* Experience with military vehicle systems
* Logical architecture experience, including development of use cases
* Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML methodology and tools like Cameo
* Familiarity with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
* Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
* Have and maintain INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification
* Leadership and mentoring of engineers

* Full-Time Salary Range: $112420 - $191070
