Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Ochsner LSU Health System. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care and safety in our radiology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and perform routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety protocols and procedures.
  • Act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care and ensure accurate and timely communication with healthcare teams.
  • Independently operate imaging equipment to complete procedures according to protocol, including placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast.
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
  • Complete timely quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted.
  • Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Adapt behavior to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, including respect for patient privacy and effective communication.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA-approved school.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of employment.
  • Current licensure in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Healthcare experience.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands of this role include heavy work, requiring the ability to exert 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.

This role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability. Travel may be required throughout and between facilities.

The incumbent will work in a patient care area, interact with patients, and/or work with specimens that could contain diseases, posing an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
