Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Director, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Utilizing safe and efficient methodologies, the technologist performs related technological functions to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:As directed by a Physician, conducts diagnostic imaging studies on patients utilizing scanners or scintillation cameras to identify radiation emissions and create images of organs on photographic film. Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceuticals, calculates and administers doses under the general supervision of the Physician. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals with direct oversight from the Physician. Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Responsible for calibrating equipment and adhering to radiation safety protocols in the handling and disposal of radioactive materials. Performs additional related duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory duties.

Basic Qualifications: ExperienceAbility to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing basic correspondence. Proficient in presenting information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and other staff members. Must be open to working in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Also refer to Position Specifications as outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED Must hold certification from the State of California and may be registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). BLS certification required.
