Position Overview
The Mastercard Cloud Team, part of the Architecture & Technology division, is responsible for driving cloud adoption and utilization across the organization. This team has a pivotal role in establishing cloud patterns, standards, and best practices throughout Mastercard and its acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of open service brokers (OSBs).
  • Establish patterns and standards for cloud integration and automation.
  • Create automated mechanisms to ensure adherence to these standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrate engineering excellence through hands-on leadership.
  • Mentor and guide software engineers to enhance productivity, quality, and compliance with technology policies.
  • Identify opportunities for reuse and increased efficiency.
  • Collaborate with IT and business partners, product owners, and stakeholders to develop meaningful roadmaps prioritizing critical work.
  • Advocate for Mastercard’s engineering principles.
  • Actively participate in the Software Engineering Guild, sharing knowledge, best practices, and a passion for technology.
  • Drive the identification of impactful behavior-changing metrics.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge in designing, implementing, and supporting OSBs within a multi-cloud environment.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud service providers, including AWS and Azure.
  • Strong grasp of cloud security in regulated markets.
  • Experience with a site reliability engineering mindset, creating resilient and observable solutions across all stack layers.
  • Expertise in automation tools and observability in cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes and managed services Kubernetes.
  • Proficient in web service design, standards, and implementation.
  • Deep knowledge of containerization and ephemeral solution design.
  • Proven success in delivering solutions in complex, multi-domain environments.
  • Ability to communicate complex designs to diverse audiences.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
  • Expertise in migrating from legacy technologies to best-in-class cloud solutions.
  • Self-motivated and adept at navigating complex organizational structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills to gain alignment on cross-functional solutions.
  • Familiarity with various project management methodologies, including Agile/Scrum and Waterfall.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle from design to deployment.
  • Engages engineers across technology organizations to promote standard software patterns and reuse of common libraries and services.
  • Leads the establishment of enterprise-wide standards for application integration, anticipating future business needs.
  • Champions performance engineering practices to ensure performance meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Understands software development productivity metrics and assists teams in removing blockers to enhance code velocity and quality.
  • Experienced in programming languages such as Java and C#.
