We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our dynamic team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Thermal and Infrared Signature Analyst, you will play a critical role in predicting EO/IR signature phenomenologies of missiles, rocket motor plumes, air platforms, and relevant background scenes.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply advanced analytical skills to predict EO/IR signature phenomenologies in support of IAMD technology development and other programs
- Collaborate with senior developers to improve existing code suites and maintain our team's status as a leading authority in the IR signature community
- Compare predictions with wind tunnel, laboratory, and flight test data and literature
- Work independently and as part of a team to craft exploratory studies to characterize the impacts of specific phenomena on various weapon systems' performance
- Document and present findings to government agencies and sponsors
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering (or a related field) with college coursework focused on areas such as heat transfer, thermodynamics, numerical analysis, fluid dynamics, and other related topics
- Overall college grade point average of at least 3.5, with 3.75 or higher in core courses
- Experience with programming/coding/scripting using tools such as Python, MATLAB, C++, or Shell
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to acquire an Interim Secret security clearance prior to start date, and ultimately obtain a Secret security clearance
