About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic I to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Green Valley, AZ. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment, including haul trucks, water trucks, and motor graders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and repair of heavy equipment systems and components, including transmissions, engines, brakes, and differentials.
  • Conduct mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems, including hydraulic, power train, and engines.
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
  • Operate mobile equipment, including overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
  • Perform welding tasks, including carbon arc, plasma, MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Train and mentor other employees, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements
  • Two (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts, including welder, boilermaker, machinist, or facility maintenance/construction.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP exists.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine systems.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to read and use blueprints.
