Job Title: Compiler/Toolchain Engineer

At MediaTek, we're seeking a talented Compiler/Toolchain Engineer to join our Boston-area team. As a key member of our Compiler and Code Generation team, you'll play a crucial role in developing optimizing compilers for our application specific processors, including upcoming 5G and future 6G modems.

About the Role

We're looking for exceptional engineers with a passion for programming languages, computer architecture, and code optimization. Your expertise in developing and contributing to production compilers such as LLVM, GCC, ICC, and MSVC will be invaluable in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and design compiler optimizations to improve code performance, stability, and efficiency
  • Develop compiler support for new processor architectures and collaborate with global teams across the company
  • Conduct design and code reviews, and engage with internal customers to deliver answers, updates, and features to support their development
Requirements
  • Experience developing and contributing to production compilers such as LLVM, GCC, ICC, and MSVC
  • Excellent coding (C/C++), problem-solving, and analysis skills, including experience with assembly code
  • Passion for programming languages, computer architecture, and code optimization
  • MS or PhD degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related majors
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of modern processor instruction set architectures, including multi-core, multi-thread, vector processing, and heterogeneous accelerators
  • Embedded systems programming experience, especially RISC/MIPS
  • Wireless algorithm background is helpful
