The role involves the installation of sophisticated integrated security solutions, which encompass the wiring, equipment setup, and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems for various clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe technician will be responsible for:
- Installing cabling, field equipment, and control equipment enclosures at client sites in compliance with national electric codes and company standards.
- Utilizing electronic testing tools to diagnose and resolve complex issues during installation.
- Interpreting blueprints, diagrams, specifications, software programs, schematics, and operational manuals.
- Adjusting, repairing, or replacing malfunctioning equipment and conducting operational tests.
- Performing system checks to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrating proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks with a keen attention to detail.
- Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, while fostering cooperative working relationships.
- Analyzing information to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Working independently to complete installation projects and demonstrating self-motivation.
- Completing and submitting all required documentation related to job assignments.
- Using hand and power tools to securely mount and install equipment.
- Feeding cables through access points, roof spaces, and walls to connect fixtures, followed by positioning and terminating cables and wires.
- Drilling necessary holes for wiring in various structural components.
- Conducting end-user training sessions.
- Isolating issues within customer networks when applicable.
Required:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Experience with digital and analog camera systems.
- Familiarity with access control systems.
- Understanding of alarm system functions and designs.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with IP addressable security devices.
- Proficiency in advanced TCP/IP networking.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Comprehensive knowledge of card access and CCTV systems.
Preferred:
- Associate degree or completion of a 2-year technical program.
- Completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship training program may substitute for formal education.
At least three certifications in Access Control from recognized programs such as:
- Kantech
- Prowatch
- C-Cure 9000
- CCTV - IP knowledge
- Genetec
- Exacq
Experience with surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, perimeter intrusion detection systems, security gate operators, and fire alarm systems is a plus.
