Role Overview: The Literacy Instruction Specialist will collaborate closely with their supervisor to define daily responsibilities aligned with the district's objectives and priorities throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer strategic recommendations to school administrators aimed at improving educational outcomes and promoting equity for diverse student groups, including those with learning differences and English language learners.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to educators and leaders to enhance the effective implementation of Amplify's educational resources, ultimately fostering improved student performance.
  • Facilitate consultations with educational leaders and teachers, including additional office hours as necessary.
  • Assist in data analysis and instructional planning in collaboration with grade-level teams and individual educators.
  • Evaluate student work and formative assessment data to inform instructional strategies and responsiveness to student needs.
  • Develop model classrooms and capture video examples to showcase and replicate effective teaching practices.

Coaching Focus: In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, the Literacy Instruction Specialist will also:

  • Actively seek feedback and adjust practices based on insights that lead to enhanced student outcomes.
  • Design or tailor professional development experiences as required.
  • Lead district-wide professional development sessions, both in-person and virtually, as needed for educators and leaders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A strong passion for education and a deep understanding of problem-based learning methodologies.
  • Experience in leading sustained coaching initiatives and professional development for K-5 educators.
  • Proven track record of collaborating on projects with educational leaders and teachers.
  • Experience in data analysis and applying findings to inform instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively while juggling multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technology-based productivity tools, particularly Google Applications.
  • Willingness to travel locally to support educators.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Amplify's CKLA program.
  • Familiarity with mCLASS and/or DIBELS 8.
  • Over 10 years of teaching and leadership experience in K-5 settings, resulting in measurable student success.
  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Ability to support educators in remote learning environments as necessary.
  • Master's degree or advanced qualifications in Education.

Additional Information:

Location: This position requires the Literacy Instruction Specialist to be eligible to work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver's license. The specialist should reside within a reasonable distance from the school district.

Travel: Local travel is an essential component of this role, with expenses for professional development initially covered by the specialist and reimbursed thereafter.

Compensation and Benefits: The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $90,000. As a fixed-term employee, you will have access to Amplify's comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
