Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Mercy Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and performing administrative tasks.
  • Conduct laboratory procedures, screening tests, and quality improvement projects as needed.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and initiate triage slips as necessary.
  • Schedule appointments, enter data into the computerized scheduler, and conduct reminder calls to patients.
  • Register patients, verify records, and make necessary changes to the computer system and patient charts.
  • Coordinate referrals, collect payments, and maintain patient charts and supplies.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
  • Current CMA certification through the AAMA or RMA certification through the AMT, CCMA certification through the NHA, or NCMA certification through the NCCT.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
Special Physical Demands

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment, perform procedures, and use a telephone and keyboard. The ability to lift and transfer patients is also necessary.

This job requires the employee to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Pushing and pulling equipment to provide care is also required.
