Job Summary

The Needs Assessment and Referral Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

  • Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to varied populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients in an inpatient and partial hospital setting.
  • Licensed Physicians, APRN's, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Registered Nurses, Masters in Social Work, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, or Masters of Psychology required.
  • Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • LCSW, LPC, NCC, LAADAC, or CRC preferred.
