Overview:

In the capacity of a Sheet Metal Worker at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, you will engage in proficient tasks that involve the crafting, assembly, and maintenance of a variety of sheet metal products. This encompasses items such as pipes, flues, ducts, gutters, and bins.

Primary Duties:

  • Plans and executes work, including cutting, shaping, bending, and assembling sheet metal components
  • Utilizes essential machinery for the fabrication and installation processes
  • Adheres to safety standards and protocols throughout all work activities

Supplementary Duties:

  • Maintains and oversees the condition of all tools utilized in sheet metal operations
  • Conducts grinding, filing, and other necessary tasks
  • Performs additional assigned responsibilities as required

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of sheet metal processes and associated risks
  • Expertise in handling sheet metal tools and machinery
  • Ability to execute oxyacetylene and electric arc welding techniques

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with completion of an accredited sheet metal work apprenticeship or relevant experience and training.
