About the Role

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prioritize ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform ultrasound exams in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, utilizing your expertise to deliver exceptional results.
  • Provide excellent patient care, addressing their needs and concerns throughout the exam process.
  • Operate ultrasound and associated equipment with proficiency, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Support and contribute to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy, prioritizing the needs of each patient and delivering care with compassion and empathy.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer, and/or Engineer, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Utilize the Radiology computer system to enter and charge exams and supplies, maintaining accurate records and ensuring seamless workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to departmental rules and regulations while performing your duties in a professional manner.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) required.
  • Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program preferred.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Physical Demands

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. You will also need to be able to walk, stand, reach, stoop, bend, push, pull, and lift during normal operation. Additionally, you will require intact sense of sight and hearing.
