Job Purpose:

Efficiently scan and process customer transactions while engaging in friendly conversation. Provide assistance to enhance the shopping experience. Utilize electronic scanners, cash registers, or similar equipment. Handle credit, debit, or benefit card transactions and verify checks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Call for additional assistance if the checkout line exceeds three customers or for large transactions to ensure prompt service.
  • Accept payments via cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide information on store policies and procedures.
  • Guide customers to product locations within the store.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change as necessary.
  • Welcome customers as they enter the store.
  • Oversee and train new staff members.
  • Assist customers by addressing their concerns and resolving issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and perform general cleaning tasks.

  • Support other store areas, such as monitoring fitting rooms or assisting with bagging and carrying out items.
  • Restock shelves, sort returned items, and label prices on products and shelves.
  • Offer carry-out service to customers upon completion of transactions.
  • Count cash in drawers at the start of shifts to ensure accuracy and sufficient change.
  • Assist with various tasks as needed to support the team.
  • Engage directly with the public.
  • Identify and assess objects, actions, and events.
  • Gather information and communicate it to the appropriate personnel.
  • Interact effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
