Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MRI Technologist Lead to join our Diagnostic Imaging team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading the daily operations of our Medical Imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with department managers and physician leaders to identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and act as a resource technologist in the daily operations and activities of the Medical Imaging department.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare team members, and physicians both in-person and via telephone.
  • Coordinate the preparation of films/exams and needed documentation for physician partners.
  • Establish staff schedules and training, ensuring staff competency through proper training techniques and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Provide technical support and perform all diagnostic procedures optimally, resulting in quality examinations necessary for diagnostic purposes.
  • Oversee supply and equipment inventory, ensuring optimal supply levels and timely equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Oversee and follow-up Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Present and document staff meetings as required.
  • Assist with Human Resource management functions, including interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development.
  • Assign, direct, and review the work of subordinate supervisors/other nursing personnel.
  • Prepare formal answers to, and recommend the adjustment of, grievances and disciplinary matters.
Qualifications
  • Current ARRT (R) (MR) registration, required.
  • Minimum three years experience as an MRI technologist, required.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification, required.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and skill in recognition of normal and abnormal variants.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principals and physics of magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Knowledge of ACR.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
