Job Summary

The MRI Technologist Lead is a key member of the Diagnostic Imaging team at Intermountain Healthcare, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading the team in delivering high-quality imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with department managers and physician leaders to identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and act as a resource technologist in the daily operations and activities of the Medical Imaging department.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare team members, and physicians to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Coordinate the preparation of films/exams and necessary documentation for physician partners.
  • Establish and manage staff schedules and training programs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure staff competency through proper training techniques and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Provide technical support and perform all diagnostic procedures optimally to result in quality examinations.
  • Oversee supply and equipment inventory to maintain optimal levels and ensure timely repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Present and document staff meetings as required.
  • Assist with Human Resource management functions, including interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development.
  • Assign, direct, and review the work of subordinate supervisors/other nursing personnel.
  • Prepare formal answers to and recommend the adjustment of grievances and disciplinary matters.
Qualifications
  • Current ARRT (R) (MR) registration.
  • Minimum three years experience as an MRI technologist.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and skill in recognition of normal and abnormal variants.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and physics of magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Knowledge of ACR.
Physical Requirements

The MRI Technologist Lead must be able to:

  • See and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Interact frequently with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
  • Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
  • Push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
  • Stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
