Manufacturing Process Engineer - Supplier Development

Role Overview

As a vital member of CBRE's expanding manufacturing engineering division, you will play a crucial role in supporting a leading technology client by ensuring manufacturing readiness and ramp-up for various suppliers. Your success will hinge on your proven ability to enhance manufacturing processes, introduce new products through operational excellence, apply lean principles in low-volume settings, and implement design improvements for manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a collaborative resource for the client and integrator to ensure manufacturing readiness for pilot and First of a Kind (FOAK) production runs.
  • Define and manage pilot milestone Go/No-Go criteria and process KPIs to assess pilot and FOAK success and readiness for full-scale production.
  • Lead the development and execution of Production Validation Testing (PVT) for pilot and FOAK in conjunction with the integrator.
  • Ensure the integrator meets readiness deliverables according to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Evaluate the integrator's production capacity and necessary resources to fulfill client demands.
  • Utilize lean methodologies in environments characterized by long lead times and low volumes to optimize production flow and enhance first-time quality.
  • Drive continuous process improvements related to lead time, quality, cost, and safety alongside the integrator beyond pilot and FOAK deliveries.
  • Identify process and supply chain bottlenecks and potential single points of failure.
  • Review design documentation to evaluate manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team to create New Product Introduction (NPI) Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Quickly pinpoint process and lead time enhancements achievable through design modifications.
  • Adapt to the client's needs as the primary contact for the project team at the integrator's location.
  • Work effectively and humbly as a team member throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Contribute as a key team member in the manufacturing assessment and qualification of additional suppliers and integrators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years in progressively responsible roles related to manufacturing engineering, quality management, continuous improvement, project management, new product development, or operations management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in production launch readiness activities, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (dFMEA), process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), capacity analysis, control plans, and pilot planning and execution.
  • Significant experience in project leadership, achieving results without direct authority.
  • Proven history of leading process improvements using lean, Six Sigma, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) techniques.
  • Consistent track record of enhancing operational metrics through automation.
  • Ability to assess design engineering models and drawings for manufacturing risks.
  • Experience in driving production enhancements through Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Experience in managing operations-related activities through a stage-gate New Product Development (NPD) process.
  • Solid understanding of large-scale HVAC, cooling, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas succinctly.
  • Working knowledge of construction quality and commissioning management is preferred.
  • Lean certification and Six Sigma Black Belt are preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
