Compensation: Starting pay rate based on experience.

Position Overview:
This role is pivotal in overseeing the comprehensive management of our banana ripening operations within the warehouse, ensuring alignment with customer expectations for ripeness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all banana handling and ripening activities, including quality assessments, ripening cycle development, and post-ripening procedures.
  • Conduct essential quality evaluations related to the ripening process, such as monitoring ventilation, humidity, and temperature, with daily reporting.
  • Sort and classify products according to established color and ripeness standards.
  • Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and manage stock levels effectively.
  • Coordinate delivery timelines to ensure sufficient inventory and adherence to ripening schedules.
  • Maintain daily and weekly inventory oversight.
  • Work in partnership with FSQA and EHS to uphold protocols for ethylene gassing and chemical storage.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by completing mandatory safety training and following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Experience:
  • Proven experience in banana ripening processes, particularly with ethylene, or comparable experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift is essential.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Sound judgment with an understanding of the financial implications of decisions.
  • Ability to work independently on both routine and complex tasks.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays, as business needs dictate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic proficiency in mathematical operations (counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
