Lifeguard (Weekends)

Job Summary:

The YMCA of East Tennessee is seeking a highly skilled and certified lifeguard to join our team on weekends. As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area to ensure the safety of all individuals.
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure that all necessary equipment is available.
• Check the pool for hazardous conditions and take corrective action as necessary.
• Perform chemical testing and document results.
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.

Requirements:

• Current CPR certification.
• O2, AED, and First Aid certification.
• Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguarding Certification.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Work Environment:

The lifeguard will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions. The noise level is moderately loud.

Physical Demands:

The lifeguard will be required to stand for long periods, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Language Skills:

The lifeguard must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
