Position Overview

Objective:

The Athletic Training Associate will oversee and support all aspects of the athletic training program for a NCAA Division II institution managing 12 sports at Lincoln University. This role is essential for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Responsibilities should align with the Core Values of Lincoln University and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate under the guidelines established by the supervising physician and engage with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive athletic health services to student-athletes.
  • Process medical claims through the athletic insurance policy and liaise with insurance providers and billing departments on behalf of student-athletes, adhering to HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
  • Implement and uphold NCAA Health and Safety Standards.
  • Deliver athletic training services to student athletes.
  • Design, execute, and enforce strategies to minimize injury risks for athletes and teams.
  • Provide immediate and ongoing medical attention for athletic injuries.
  • Engage directly with multiple athletic teams on a daily basis.
  • Travel with at least one athletic team for away competitions.
  • Supervise and mentor athletic training students in a clinical setting.
  • Manage athletic training administrative tasks, including:
    • Effective communication with physicians, coaches, student-athletes, and administration.
    • Documentation of injury assessments and treatments.
    • Maintenance of training equipment.
    • Inventory management.
  • Willingness to travel with teams as necessary and work during evenings and weekends.
  • Maintain BOC certification and a valid Missouri license.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other tasks as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Executive Athletic Administration.

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in athletic training or a related field. Mandatory
  • 0-5 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and Sportware).

  • Understanding of NCAA regulations and guidelines. Preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification. Essential.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Graduation from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program. Essential.
  • Certification from the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Essential.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color perception, and peripheral vision.

The noise level in the office environment is typically moderate. During athletic events, the noise level can be quite loud.
