Advanced Practice Nurse - Infusion Services
As a valued member of the Elevance Health network, our organization is dedicated to delivering essential infusible and injectable therapies through our specialized pharmacies and infusion facilities.
Role Overview:
The Advanced Practice Nurse is accountable for delivering comprehensive patient care within their professional scope in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administers prescribed therapies in accordance with physician directives, facility guidelines, and industry standards.
- Facilitates the patient admission process as instructed by the Center Director.
- Conducts thorough physical assessments for each patient as necessary, particularly for new consultations based on diagnosis.
- Collaborates with the Nurse Practitioner on duty for comprehensive evaluations as required.
- Records all relevant information in the patient's medical records accurately.
- Communicates significant changes or observations to the Center Director and follows up on identified issues.
- Engages effectively with the IV team regarding patient conditions and observations.
- Upholds patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assesses patient responses to treatments and documents findings in the medical record.
- Educates patients and their families about the treatment plan.
- Participates actively in the Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Ensures all medication orders are complete, accurate, and current prior to administration.
- Engages in the On-Call program, which may involve after-hours, weekend, and holiday responsibilities.
- Provides clinical support for nurse practitioners on leave and may assist with new market introductions.
- May require travel to various work sites as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing with a minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience as a nurse practitioner, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with intravenous therapies is essential. A current, unrestricted NP license to practice in the relevant state is required.
- Must possess an active Family Nurse Practitioner Certification.
- Multi-state licensure is necessary for services provided across state lines.
- Completion of a Tuberculosis test and Hepatitis B vaccination or signed waiver is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare settings involving IV therapies is highly desirable.
- At least 2 years of experience with intravenous procedures is preferred.
- Experience with Port, PICC, and Peripheral Lines is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medication mixing and titration is preferred.
