Audit Readiness Senior Consultant

  • As a Senior Consultant, you will support client organization and project team management with Environmental and Disposal Liabilities (E&DL) audit readiness, remediation, and program support services. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing audit liaison support services, such as facilitating and supporting PBC and sample responses, reviewing audit findings, developing and executing corrective action plans, and serving as a liaison with external financial statement auditors.
  • Evaluating business processes and internal control activities, developing solutions for enhancing control activities, and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Applying fundamental audit principles to concepts, processes, practices, and procedures of environmental and disposal liabilities.
  • Communicating and discussing disseminated environmental and disposal liabilities guidance with client personnel.
  • Contributing to the development of deliverables, reporting performance metrics, presentations, and trainings where applicable.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of work products, including job aids, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), associated templates, and other related support documentation for business process controls.
  • Operating with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • 4 years of federal financial management and 2 years of federal accounting experience.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or Business Management, or one or more of the following certifications: CPA, PMP, CGFM, CDFM, CISA.
  • Ability to own work product development and demonstrate initiative and accountability for assigned task areas, effectively coordinating with and across various organizations.
  • Professional services experience and/or experience supporting Public Sector clients.
  • Journeyman: A journeyman labor category has 3 to 10 years of experience and a BA/BS or MA/MS degree. A Journeyman typically performs all functional duties independently.
  • Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements, give advice, or audit and evaluate statements prepared by others. Install or advise on systems of recording cost and other financial and budgetary data. Excludes "Tax Examiners and Collectors, and Revenue Agents".
  • Conduct quantitative analyses of information affecting investment programs of DoD institutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with E&DL subject matter, including audit readiness, business process and control improvement, cost estimation, and/or financial reporting support.
  • Operational understanding of DoD environmental cleanup programs.
  • Ability to support possible project-related travel.
  • Knowledge of DoD financial management reporting, policies, systems, procedures.
  • Knowledge of some or all of the following: Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) Guidance, the USSGL, GAAP, FASAB, CFO Act, FMFIA, FFMIA, ICOFR, GAGAS (Yellow Book), GAO Green Book, OMB Circulars, COSO Framework.
  • Experience with DoD financial statement audit, internal control testing or analysis, preparing assertion packages, and coordinating with external auditor.
