Job Summary:

Piedmont Virginia Community College seeks part-time Security Officers to work a maximum of 29 hours per week on the day shift with no weekends. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the college community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and make rounds to ensure safety and security of PVCC
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Possess good judgement, discretion, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be computer literate (MS Word or equivalent, Outlook, etc.)
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Three years of post-high school experience
  • Have a valid drivers license and good driving history
  • Successfully pass a background review, including criminal history and driving history
  • Be able to obtain and maintain CPR /AED and First Aid certification
  • Have basic knowledge of campus environment and/or security industry, relevant laws, and safety and fire prevention

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Criminal Justice or related field OR two years law enforcement experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong student orientation and customer focus
  • A strong service orientation and a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, multicultural community, and excellent written and verbal skills
