Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to join our team at the Young Men's Christian Association of Wichita Kansas. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading group exercise classes and providing fitness and health education to participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead group exercise classes, ensuring a positive and enjoyable learning experience for all participants.
  • Develop and implement fitness programs that meet the needs of diverse groups of people.
  • Provide fitness and health education to participants, promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance and progress.
  • Collaborate with other fitness professionals to develop and implement new programs and services.
  • Stay current with trends in the fitness industry, attending workshops and training sessions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, staff, and management to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Current certification in group exercise instruction (e.g. ACE, AFAA, Yoga Alliance).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in group exercise instruction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including youth and seniors.
  • Experience with program development and implementation.
  • Experience with staff supervision and training.
