Nuclear Engineer

This entry-level position will make immediate contributions to the team responsible for Process or System Engineering, while being technically mentored by a team of high-performing engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop creative solutions and reduce complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems.
- Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes.
- Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
- Lead and conduct calculations, design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various advanced reactor safety and non-safety system functions.
- Apply engineering knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex design problems and application issues.
- Create design deliverables from conceptual requirements to detailed drawings at different phases of the project.
- Professionally respond to customer information requests, emergent plant issues, and audits.
- Work proactively with reactor product line and quality personnel through process procedure approvals, process qualification approvals, and non-conforming material disposition.
- Manage the interface between systems, components, and project/product management organizations.
- Develop innovative chemical processes to improve the efficiency of reactor coolant purification systems or fuel manufacturing processes.
- Apply knowledge of materials science to develop novel solutions for effective shielding or extended mechanical life.
- Bachelor's Degree in chemical engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Eligibility Requirement: This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
- Desired Characteristics: Understanding of basic material property behavior, understanding of basic chemical process engineering, understanding of engineering design documents and drawings, familiarity with BWR plant systems and/or chemistry issues, experience in ChemCAD, Aspen, or similar software, demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others, background in nuclear power plant technology, demonstrate a strong personal commitment and determination, detail-oriented and accountable for results, communicate with credibility and humility, displays a strong drive for continuous improvement, excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
