Horizon Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our clinical team in a 12-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for implementing treatment plans, reviewing patient medical records, and representing the program with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Assess and complete patient diagnoses, treatment, education, and referrals in accordance with hospital policies.
- Coordinate patient care services and activities designed to increase patient census and control costs.
- Counsel patients and family members on preventative care.
- Perform treatment intervention medication orders, administration, and medical treatments.
- Assist in medical emergencies.
- Work with the treatment team in admitting and discharging patients to and from the program.
- Participate in the treatment team in planning, coordinating, and implementing direct patient care.
- Conduct physical exams of patients during admission and attend to basic medical needs/issues; work with hospitalists to manage more complicated medical conditions.
- Provide telemedicine on-call coverage utilizing telepsychiatry and patient round psychiatric services for our psychiatric program.
- Doctoral degree with current, active, valid, unrestricted state license.
- Board Certified Psychiatrist preferred.
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hospital administration.
